When I served in the Marine Corps, I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
What a beautiful place.
The beaches, people, culture, and of course, this wouldn’t be a food blog without a love for food. It was AMAZING!

There is one place in particular that myself and well, basically everyone, loved. CoCo Ichibanya, or just CoCo’s to the Marines.

Everyone had their go-to orders, mine was chicken cutlet curry, double meat with cheese. Spice level 5 and you can’t forget the signature CoCo’s sauce.

I’m getting hungry just writing about it.
Needless to say, this was “the spot.” Late nights, lunch or dinner, CoCo’s always was the best.
Leaving Okinawa was sad. I missed a lot of what I came to love about the beautiful country of Japan and the wonderful island of Okinawa.
When I moved to California, I found out there is a CoCo Ichibanya in LA, Irvine, and Torrance, California. I visited the first location to open, in Irvine. It was busy and I could tell everyone who had been stationed in Okinawa was waiting for their taste of a Japanese favorite.
Although, it wasn’t the exact same from the island, it was still pretty perfect and took care of the itch for CoCo’s.
But this is a food blog about Columbus, and you can bet I found the next best Japanese curry here, that reminds me of CoCo’s.
Introducing the Tensuke Ramen house!
While they do have fantastic ramen and chicken teriyaki bowls and have a separate restaurant called Sushi Ten for some delicious sushi, they have the best Japanese Curry in Columbus.
The curry sauce is thick and rich with the signature flavors, fluffy white rice and crispy chicken cutlet, you really can’t go wrong.

They are located at 1155 Old Henderson Rd, Columbus, OH 43220.
They have great seating for all, including families with kiddos. The restaurant is clean and well managed. Oh, and for those who care, they have easy parking. Us moms, appreciate that!
Next door to the Tensuke Ramen, you will find five other unique Japanese restaurants and markets, including the Sushi Ten and the Japanese marketplace, full of delicious goodies and grocery items. Theres also, Belle’s Breads, beautifully crafted Japanese bakery, and J. Avenue, a fun gift shop, plus Akai Hana, a Japanese fine dining spot, which are all located in the same shopping plaza.

I was so excited to find Tensuke Ramen! It brought me back to a dish I love and memories of the beautiful island of Okinawa. Whether you enjoy a hot bowl of ramen, teriyaki chicken and rice bowl or the wonderful chicken cutlet curry, you can’t go wrong!
I hope you enjoy this Good Eats in Columbus.
